Massive Audio Hippo Series H30005
Bridgeable 5 Channel Mega Amplifier
CTA-2006 Compliant (certified true power-unlike most other brands)
For a new generation of sound, these ultra-efficient, super compact amplifiers are designed with Massive Audio’s exclusive "Massive Core" which adds tons of headroom for clean, undistorted, pure sound.
The "Massive Core" power supply with oversized toroids and transformers delivers plenty of current to drive even the most demanding woofers and speakers. Top-quality parts and construction ensure years of reliable, trouble-free service. Four-layered circuit boards, with surface-mount computer-assembled parts, are tested as they are placed on the board, to help optimize the signal paths and minimize the need for point-to-point wiring while keeping the board temperature even for more predictable operations.
An extended frequency response range from 10KHz up to 20KHz, and architecture that was meticulously designed, ensures ultimate sound quality. To combat thermal runaway, which impacts an amplifier's reliability and performance, Massive Audio uses transistors that are specifically designed, and used as output devices, for audio amplifiers. HIPPO SERIES amplifier transistors employ thermal sensing, bias, and are adjusted in real time. This eliminates the thermal lag often encountered in conventional designs.
Most HIPPO SERIES amplifiers use a hybrid cooling system that utilizes both convection cooling combined with cool air coming from below, and active cooling using a state-of-the-art fan. This hybrid system makes the design exponentially more efficient. With the heatsink constantly keeping amplifiers cool, the fans normally operate at their lower and quieter speed.
HIPPO SERIES amplifiers are incredibly stable even under low-impedance speaker loads and deliver reliable power with audiophile-quality sound. Additionally, a short path design and redundant systems (with Reactive Load Monitoring and other protective technologies) ensure that peaks are effortlessly reproduced and guarantee a long life of high performance. While some amplifiers oscillate or run out of power under low impedance, the HIPPO SERIES amplifiers remain perfectly stable.
Conservatively rated, in a compact design shaped to minimize hum, the low-impedance oversized toroids/transformers make no sacrifices in delivering a continuous supply of pure, clean, low-noise power.
Furthermore, the amplifier sections are connected to the power supply capacitor bank with minimized PSU impedance and internal cabling inductance, providing a clear path for maximum power. This keeps the output impedance remarkably low while making more power available to the amplifier. Even when driving lower or complex impedance loads, the result is audibly superior performance. Reactive Load Monitoring (RLM) with 7-Way Sentinel Protection Circuitry monitors internal temperature, current, and voltage to ensure safe and uninterrupted long-term operation. RLM is not in the signal path, so it never interferes. Instead, RLM engages instantly under extreme circumstances to protect the amplifier and speakers from damage all while lowering the chance of a line fuse blowing during an over-current condition.
The HIPPO SERIES amplifiers were designed and engineered in the USA. From concept to manufacturing, Massive Audio has complete control over the entire, intricate process. Massive Audio takes pride in this personal attention to detail, using only the highest quality components, many designed and engineered exclusively for Massive Audio.
